Any Wig-wearin' Burners have any advice re: care of wigs on the Playa?
Last year was my first year at Burning Man, wore my long black wig one night - it got sooooooooo trashed.
I'd love to wear wigs out there this year, but don't really want to sacrifice any of my babies.

Fri, June 4, 2004 - 5:08 PMMy strategy is to consider my playa wigs to be disposable items. I wouldn't bring anything that's worth over $20 to you. -

It's a wee late for this year..but...Walgreens Halloween wigs are great for the playa and usually run $20 bucks or less. I've had luck at the Halloween outlets too.
You might also consider going to Oaklandia or the Fillmore area for hair that you can weave in usually 6-10 bucks a bag. You could also do the stitch the hair into a cheap hat trick too.

Re: Playa Wig Advice?
Wed, July 14, 2004 - 9:26 PMDon't take your favorites unless you know where to replace them, or are very careful and don't mind washing them later. The tangles from the wind are a pain to comb out but be gentle and patient. Or just wear the ones that really need to be washed anyway.

Re: Playa Wig Advice?
Mon, March 7, 2005 - 7:24 PMI took a purple bob wig to the playa... it looked fabulous but quickly developed a serious case of playa-hair. Once I got it home, I washed it in vinegar and water - the vinegar neutralizes the playa dust and it is like new again!
I also second the advice to take cheap wigs... just in case.
